Yellowstone National Park

We begin and end this tour in Las Vegas and visit the states of Utah, Wyoming, and South Dakota. You'll receive an overview of the history, geology, plant life, and culture of the West. The owner, Ron, is a distant relative of Butch Cassidy (a native of Utah) and you will hear several stories about "Uncle Butch" as we conduct our tour. Our guides are the best in the area, and have a great love and appreciation for the places we visit.

There will be ample opportunities to take walks in the parks we're visiting. Some of the trails can be strenuous and for those who want, we will suggest trails to explore and accompany you when possible. If walking is not for you, we can easily accommodate your needs as well because there are optional activities that you can do while others are out walking.

We will experience different temperatures, so please dress accordingly. If you plan to do some walking, please have shoes or boots that are suitable and designed for dirt and rock trails.

We look forward to touring with you!!!

Day One: Salt Lake City

We load up at 8 AM in Las Vegas (location to be determined) and leave for Salt Lake City. On our way, we'll stop for a welcome picnic lunch in Utah¹s historic Cove Fort. We arrive in Salt Lake in the late afternoon. We'll tour Temple Square and, in the evening, attend a practice performance by the world-famous Mormon Tabernacle Choir. Lodging will be at a Hilton Inn in Layton. L

Day Two: Jackson Hole, Wyoming

After breakfast, we depart for Jackson Hole, Wyoming, traveling along the shores of the Great Salt Lake into Idaho and arriving at Jackson Hole in the early afternoon. We check into our hotel and have the afternoon and evening free to explore the many shops and restaurants of Jackson Hole. Lodging will be in the 49er Inn & Suites. B L

Day Three: Grand Tetons and Yellowstone National Park

After breakfast, we begin our tour of the beautiful Grand Tetons. We take the Jenny Lake loop in the morning and, for most, this will be a highlight of the tour: the views are breathtaking. We have lunch at the famous Jackson Lake Lodge, which offers another great view of the Tetons.

From there, we drive to the Yellowstone National Park. Our first stop will be Old Faithful, where we will see Yellowstone¹s most famous and reliable geyser and tour the Old Faithful Inn. We spend the night in Yellowstone Snow Lodge. B L

Day Four: Yellowstone National Park

We'll spend most of the day in Yellowstone seeing some of the best sites: geyser basins, waterfalls, and, of course, wildlife, including the Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone. In the afternoon we'll depart for Cody, Wyoming. A visit to the famous Buffalo Bill Museum is an optional evening activity for those who want to see and experience a wonderful collection of Native American artifacts, Old West firearms, and Western art. Dinner and lodging will be in Cody, Wyoming, at the Best Western Sunset Inn. B

Day Five: Devil's Tower and Rapid City, South Dakota

After breakfast, we head for Greybull, going over the Big Horn Mountains, and stopping for lunch in Sheridan, Wyoming, the "energy capital" of America. We then proceed to Devil¹s Tower, America¹s first national monument and a very sacred place for Native Americans. Dinner and lodging will be in Rapid City, South Dakota. We'll stay at the Best Western Hotel. B

Day Six: Mt. Rushmore, Custer State Park, and Deadwood

We begin our day with a tour of Mt. Rushmore, where we see the faces of George Washington, Abraham Lincoln, Thomas Jefferson and Teddy Roosevelt carved into the granite mountainside. We have lunch near the Crazy Horse Memorial and then take a driving tour of beautiful Custer State Park. We expect to see buffalo, antelope, deer and even some wild burros in this beautiful part of the Black Hills. Later that afternoon we visit Deadwood, made famous by Wild Bill Hickock and Calamity Jane. We'll return later in the day to our hotel in Rapid City. B L

We head to Park City, Utah, home of the 2002 Olympics. We'll take a tour of the Olympic Village where we'll be able to see some of the original Olympic venues (ski jumps, etc.). We will then have a farewell dinner at a local restaurant and spend the night at the Marriott in Park City. B D
